About Me

I am Mackenzie, the Writer. I have been writing since I was 12 years old. My passion is creative writing, but I have done all types: from press releases to social media posts and everything in between. Writing in any form has always been therapy for me; the simple act of typing up a communications plan for an engineering project takes me away from the stress of the world. I finally decided to take that passion and turn it into something tangible in 2020 when I started a master's program in genre fiction. Like most writers, my goal is to write a novel of my own, and I graduated with 100 pages of an idea I am so excited to finish up. However, as all writers know, success is not linear in the world of words on pages, so I am pushing myself to write more and simply have fun. In my blog you'll find a lot of thought pieces, funny anecdotes about my own crazy writing journey, and short stories. Simply put: You'll find a lot of what makes up my creative brain every day.

 

I am also a book dragon with a hoard of over 300 books, which I am constantly growing. All the memes about having a To Be Read list too long for one person's lifespan is probably about me. I recently came to the realization that it would be so much fun to share my love of books with everyone. My blog will also be home to book reviews of stories that steal my heart, cute listicles, character breakdowns - basically, all the bookish content you can imagine. I will eventually be offering writing and copy editing services on a freelance basis. I am still researching all my options for how to successfully launch this side business while juggling other projects and a full-time job. Once this is ready, you'll also be able to view a portfolio of my work.

This website has been a dream in the making for a long time. I will probably make mistakes. I may write something you don't like. I may post a terrible short story or two. But this isn't about perfection; this is about having fun and sharing my love with people willing to show up and read what I have going on. I can't wait to share my journey with you!
